WASHINGTON, D.C., October 24, 2007 – The Bay Area’s Earn It! Keep It! Save It! coalition, lead by United Way of the Bay Area, was honored today by the National Disability Institute (NDI) today for innovation and best practices in assisting persons with disabilities in San Francisco and Oakland claim the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other benefits through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). Faith DuBois, director of United Way of the Bay Area’s Earn It! Keep It! Save It! coalition, attended the ceremony and accepted awards on behalf of Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.
Earn It! Keep It! Save It! participated in the National Disability Institute’s Real Economic Impact Tour, which is an national initiative that assists low income persons with disabilities with asset building strategies, free tax preparation and filing assistance. This year, Earn It! Keep It! Save It! was one of 62 campaigns across the nation participating in the REI Tour.
