| What is Born Learning?
Children are constantly learning, right from birth. Their early years are the foundation for growth and development, and what they learn during those years depends on the experiences they have each and every day. United Way partnered with the Ad Council and Civitas to create Born Learning, an innovative public engagement campaign that helps parents, caregivers and communities create quality early learning opportunities for young children.
Why It Matters.
Research shows that early learning can provide adults with greater success in life, fewer involvements in crime, higher income and higher education levels. Yet almost half of America's kindergarteners come to school behind (U.S. Department of Education).
How It Works.
Born Learning increases awareness about the importance of quality early learning and provides parents, grandparents and caregivers with practical tools, resources and ideas to help them integrate learning into everyday moments.
United Way focuses on early childhood development as a key poverty prevention strategy, through initiatives like Born Learning. Click here to learn more about how United Way is improving lives in the Bay Area.
