Healthy Families Matter.

“Your gift to United Way is
vital for so many families out there that are in need of healthcare.

When we lost our insurance, we were able to re-enroll in a matter of days. It has been a blessing. My family doesn’t have to pay a co-pay, so we go to the doctor regularly and we’re all healthier.”

The Community Fund joins thousands of donations to form a single, powerful financial resource that enables United Way to guide and bring to scale many of our region’s best-performing nonprofit programs. Through the Bay Area Community Fund, United Way supports more than 250 local programs that fight poverty and create opportunities for children, youth, families and neighborhoods to thrive.

Families - Low-wage families are able to meet basic needs and climb the economic ladder.

We focus on providing individuals and families with opportunities for job skills training programs, financial education, savings and asset-building activities that help them move toward financial stability. Strategies include:

  1. Basic Needs
  2. Work Supports
  3. Income Building
  4. Savings and Asset Building

Neighborhoods and Community - Neighborhood organizations are working well together to serve local residents and effectively address community needs.

We focus on ensuring that the infrastructure and level of volunteer support for Bay Area nonprofits grows and remains ready to meet community needs. We also work to ensure that the Bay Area is prepared for disaster and crises and can easily connect to community services through the 2-1-1 Information & Referral telephone service.
