Fun Ideas
Running a Workplace Campaign can boost morale and encourage team building by bringing different groups of employees together in entirely new ways. But what is a Campaign without fun? Special events and activities can increase your company’s Campaign dollars while also increasing participation. Below are a few fun ideas for you to try. If your Campaign does something fun, let us know. Send your United Way representative a picture and we’ll highlight it on our blog or Facebook page.
Trivia Night
Form small teams. Questions could include current events, random facts, or company statistics. Teams pay a small entry fee, and you could also offer pub-style appetizers like wings or sliders, and root beer for sale.
Office Mini-golf Tournament
Set up your own mini-golf course, with office furniture or other items as obstacles. Employees pay to enter the contest, and the winner would be the individual with the lowest number of strokes.
Coffee Week
Have an employee ask a local coffee distributor to donate ground beans. Staff volunteers can choose a week to sell coffee at the office, giving people the option to buy their java at work instead of at a coffee shop.
Chili or Soup Cook Off for Poverty
Contestants enter their best recipes to win a prize. Sell tickets to coworkers to judge the food. Consider having managers serve the food to their hardworking team members.
Boot Day
Have employees wear boots to work and reward each person who participates in this themed day with a ticket for a raffle prize. Host an end-of-day fashion show with categories ranging from “Sassiest Shoes,” “Bossiest
Boots,” “Best Outfit with Boots,” “Most Creative,” etc. Entrance fees go towards the Campaign.
Scavenger Hunt
Set up a scavenger hunt around the office where people are sent on a trail from one clue to another until they reach the finish and their prize. Questions could be “What is the receptionist’s birthday?” or “How many computers are in a certain department?” Fastest team wins. Entry fee is donated to your Campaign.
Auctions
Sometimes it’s the small things that get the best results. Hold employee auctions as a way to get everyone involved by having them bid for donated items, fun-themed activities, and even the opportunity for “Pie in Your Manager’s Face” – all in good fun.
