Making the Ask
Fundraising can seem challenging. However, most people want to give back to their communities, and the reason they don’t give is that they have never been asked. As an Employee Campaign Coordinator, you have the privilege to provide your co-workers the opportunity to make a difference in an easy way.

Sample Presentation Outline
At Campaign presentations and in conversations, the goal is to thank, engage, inspire, and thank again your audience. We recommend your presentations and events follow a similar structure:

Introduction
Hello, my name is (Name) of (Company name). I’m here to talk with you today about how you can make a difference in our community.

Thank Your Audience
Thank you for the gifts you made last year, and for all of the work you do every day to make our community a better place.

State Our Common Goal
1 in 5 Bay Area families cannot make ends meet. (Company name) is proud to partner with United Way in our common goal to cut that number in half by 2020. To accomplish this, we all need to get involved.

Connect the Need to the Heart
Most of us know someone that is struggling or has struggled to make ends meet, especially with double-digit unemployment in the Bay Area. Add a personal or success story from United Way. Use sample success stories like these.

Describe How They Can Make a Difference
By working together, we can help people like (name from story above). That’s why supporting United Way’s vital programs is so important. There’s the 211 helpline which connects thousands of callers in need to services like food, housing, and health care. There’s Earn It! Keep It! Save It! which provides free tax preparation service to thousands of Bay Area residents. And there’s SparkPoint Centers which are one-stop help centers that help move families out of poverty, toward financial stability.

Make the Ask
I’m asking you today to take a stand against poverty and create stronger a stronger community for us all. Please give a gift to help create pathways out of poverty for hard working residents who cannot make ends meet.  Describe the fun campaign events and giving opportunities you have planned.

Thank you
Thank you from all of the thousands of people that receive help because of the gifts you donate to United Way. Your donations go a long way toward making the Bay Area a better place to live and work.
