100 Families Lifted Out of Poverty

January 6, 2016

By: Randy Hyde

Just over a month ago, we set the bar high. We asked you to help us pull 100 families out of poverty by the end of December. Fighting poverty locally is what we do, and experience has taught us that $2,000 provides the services that can end the cycle of poverty for one family. Reaching 100 depended on a great deal of generosity. We knew that, and we knew we could rely on the giving spirit of the Bay Area.

Thank you for helping us reach our goal. Because of you, we surpassed our goal, and 102 families will start the new year with the tools they need to thrive.

As much as we accomplished together in 2015, there are still thousands who struggle and need our help, not just at the holidays, but the rest of the year. Though our goal was 100 families in one month, you can join us any time to help the families we haven’t reached yet. Fighting poverty is what we do every day, all year.

If you’re new to United Way, take a look around and see how we help local families. If you’re an old friend, take another look and see what’s new. As long as there are people in need, this work goes on. Your neighbors in the Bay Area still depend on your help. Donate now to help even more families this year.
