The Opportunity:
The Accounting Supervisor manages the work of two finance staff members. In this newly created position, the successful candidate will focus on ensuring that all United Way Bay Area (UWBA) revenue, donor designations, and expenses are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and United Way Worldwide (UWW) standards. S/he will be accountable for the following areas of the finance department portfolio:
• UWBA Community Impact project accounting
• Bi-weekly trade payable check runs
• Reconciliation of investments
• Semi-monthly payroll and related journal entries
• Timely and accurate production of financial reporting
• Preparation of fixed asset and depreciation schedules

What you’ll do:
• Working with the Vice President/Controller and the Lead Accountant, execute month-end
and year-end close; deliver all internal, board, and external financial reporting.
• Supervise and review bi-weekly A/P check runs, verify proper approvals and ensure accurate booking of expenses to cost centers as well as to appropriate G/L accounts
• Review and approve financial transactions, including deposits, disbursements, accruals, journal entries, and supporting reconciliations
• Prepare monthly reconciliation of UWBA investment accounts
• Direct preparation of semi-monthly payroll, act as payroll backup
• Conduct payroll and revenue orientation for new hires
• Assure overtime, vacation payouts and PTO accruals are calculated correctly
• Approve and verify entry of all PCFs, PAFs, salary and benefit changes, garnishments, and 401(k) loans, coordinating with Human Resources to ensure seamless information flow
• Prepare payroll journal entries and monitor periodic update of benefits rates.
• Monitor systems, workflows, and procedures to ensure timely, accurate customer billings
• Advise Vice President/Controller regarding developing issues. Recommend solutions
• Collaborate with Vice President/Controller in the design, implementation, and enforcement of internal controls for the purpose of preserving and protecting UWBA assets and insuring the accurate recording and reporting of transactions
• As delegated by the Vice President/Controller, prepare work-papers and schedules for the annual and periodic audits, inclusive of workers’ compensation audit.
• Actively partner with the Vice President/Controller and the COO in the annual budget and forecasting process
• Participate in cross-functional teams focused on innovation and improvement of companywide processes and collaborative efforts
• Augment existing departmental expertise by becoming a subject matter expert in all financial systems and in Salesforce–act as department Salesforce champion

Secondary Responsibilities:
• Review and approve recording of receipts; monitor revenue streams to ensure appropriate revenue recognition
• Review and approve all revenue and donor designations-related journal entries to the general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts
• Oversee preparation of and approve all month-end and year-end receivable, revenue and donor designations account reconciliations
• Develop and maintain direct relationships with vendors and donors to optimize collection of receivables and ensure timely payments to vendors, grantees, and designated charities
• Other special projects and responsibilities as assigned

Who you are:
• B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or commensurate experience
• 5 or more years of overall work experience demonstrating progressively greater responsibility
• 3 or more years of supervisory experience
• 2 or more years of payroll experience
• Superior customer service skills
• Crisp, clear, and diplomatic writing and oral communication skills
• Proven success in learning new software platforms and applications
• Excellent project and time management skills
• Nonprofit and Salesforce experience will be considered a significant plus

Salary: $75,000.00 – 85,000.00 Salary Exempt

The Opportunity:
The Temporary Job Development Specialist works as a part of team that engages employers as partners in a spectrum of workforce readiness, job placement, and career pathway programs led by United Way Bay Area. This is a full-time, temporary, 6-month position between November 1st, 2018 – April 30, 2019, working 37.5 hours per week, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position dependent on funding and performance.
The Temporary Job Development Specialist works both in the office and off-site to attend, facilitate, or support events in the community. The Temporary Job Development Specialist position is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and organized individual to be a part of UWBA’s Equity Team. The Equity Team provides technical assistance grant funding, and program management for partners supporting people living in poverty. Together, with our partners, we provide a variety of services targeting early school aged children, youth, young adults, parents, and older adults.

What You’ll Do
• Recruit and secure 50 job opportunities for youth and young adults (employment and/or internships)
• Manage caseload of 40 or more existing employer partners to participate in workforce development activities and work-based learning opportunities.
• Establish new employer relationships with at least 5 new employers
• Recruit and procure 50 employers to participate in Annual Youth Resource Fair through tabling or interviewing
• Manage employer, event, hiring, communication, and outcome information in Salesforce
• Communicate progress regularly to the team
• Support other team goals as assigned

• At least two years’ experience working in sales of services and/or customer service or experience in job development and employer engagement

This is a top-to-bottom, roll-up-your-shirt-sleeves kind of job. It includes everything from developing business cases and financial models to negotiating pricing and closing contracts, to administrative support, scheduling, and tracking activities.
As a member of our mission-driven nonprofit, the Director will directly engage with customer executive teams to help articulate the tangible, strategic, and financial impact that the SPC platform can deliver to their organizations. Ultimately, a core part of our work is to prepare and provide provocative and visionary direction for the CSR teams of corporate partners who invest in the Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud. The successful candidate for this job will be at the heart of that work.

We are looking for highly talented, inquisitive, creative and passionate individuals who can articulate to customers how the SPC solution will enable them to meet their CSR strategic and financial objectives, help tackle their most business-critical challenges, enable rapid growth and scale-ability, and deepen employee engagement.

What you’ll do:
• Design and deliver compelling business case presentations and financial models aimed at identifying, accelerating, justifying, and/or expanding sales opportunities.
• Create thought-provoking executive proposals to engage customers in long-term business relationships.
• Side-by-side with executive, development, and marketing team members, work closely with prospective and existing customers to identify, prioritize, and quantify key business drivers and metrics, and help customers understand how our solutions will enable them to achieve their strategic CSR and engagement goals.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver custom proposals and deal structures. This could include leadership, collaboration, and supporting roles, depending on what’s needed to get the job done.
• Across a wide range of companies and industries, facilitate internal and external discovery to map out customers’ “as is” and “to be” business processes, with the goal of identifying and prioritizing key business value drivers.
• Partner with the CDO and workplace campaign staff, to envision, design, and deliver the workplace campaign of the future, utilizing tools as varied as design thinking and observation of traditional workplace campaigns.
• Provide thought leadership, training, and consultative partnership with sales and other teams throughout and beyond the sales cycle. This includes on-going partnership with teams at other United Ways, United Way Worldwide, and Salesforce.
• Attend to a full spectrum of “back office” sales activities. The scope of this work includes (but is not limited to) tracking activity for UWBA within our internal Salesforce instance as well as within the shared system-wide instance, scheduling meetings and calls, drafting correspondence, and generating reports.

Education and Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years of business development experience, ideally in consultative, strategic, and analytical customer-facing roles.
• Experience in a high-energy, fast paced sales environment, preferably in technology or enterprise software.
• MBA degree preferred.
• CSR experience is a plus, as is expertise with Salesforce.

Salary: $60,000.00 – 75,000.00 Salary Exempt,

The Development Officer will cultivate, manage and grow an assigned portfolio of accounts, with a focus on corporate and employee engagement. This position will also steward and cultivate leadership level individual donors and prospects from within assigned accounts, and will identify new opportunities to raise funds year-round within and beyond those accounts.

The Development Officer will have the ability to work with a broad range of people, have strong fundraising skills, strong communication skills and the ability to interact with high level donors on an individual and group basis. This position will work closely with the Sr. Director of Development to develop and refine strategies for maximizing results and will collaborate with other team members within Development and across departments including the Finance, Marketing, and Community Impact Teams.

This is a professional exempt position reporting to the Senior Director of Development. It is a full time, regular, 37.5 hour per week position.

What you’ll do:
• Develop strategy for each assigned workplace account and establish, in cooperation with management, measurable goals and objectives to meet organization goals.
• Manage appropriate training/resources, manage timelines, provide direct support, i.e., speaking engagements, event facilitation, etc. for each account.
• Manage on-going relationships with key leadership and donors in each of the assigned accounts.
• Conduct face to face visits with a portfolio of leadership donors and steward year-round.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward new prospects and infiltrate accounts for additional new business opportunities outside of campaign season.
• Accurately forecast, monitor and prepare progress reports on all accounts and individual donor portfolio.
• Work closely with Marketing and Finance/Pledge Processing Teams to promote and set up appropriate technology tools to ensure results for all accounts are properly submitted and recorded.
• Provide high level, quality customer service by maintaining a positive and proactive relationship to all assigned workplace campaigns and individuals; maintain thorough communication logs in Salesforce.
• Manage volunteers, board members and organization stakeholders who will assist with the identification, cultivation and solicitation of prospects.
• Cultivate ongoing relationships with account representatives, donors, and prospective donors to identify their philanthropic interests and enhance their knowledge and support of UWBA.
• Promote and/or collaborate with the Volunteer, Event and/or Affinity Group Teams to provide
targeted opportunities for individuals and corporate employee groups to engage directly with UWBA programs and our mission.

Who you are:
• 3-5 years+ experience direct fundraising.
• Ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous tasks and customer relationships.
• Strong donor focus and understanding of how to effectively manage ongoing donor relationships.
• Self-motivated, goal oriented, ability to get job done.
• Team player, excels at working collaboratively – both listening and actively contributing – as well as independently.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking, and solid relationship management skills at all levels in organization.
• Strong computer skills including above average competency on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Comfort and knowledge of Internet, experience with Salesforce desirable.
• Project management experience desirable.
• Other non-profit/philanthropic experience/demonstrated interest desirable.
• A California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
