Vice President Development, Individual Giving

UWBA is seeking a Vice President of Development, Individual Giving, to lead its major gifts and individual giving program. The Vice President will work with our Leadership Team to raise UWBA resources, visibility, and relevance in the diverse and vibrant communities we serve within eight San Francisco Bay Area counties.
As the successful candidate, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on raising over $34 million per year. UWBA currently partners with corporate, foundation, individual and governmental funders to address the community’s most pressing needs and drives sustainable results. It is our goal to increase the number of new individual UWBA donors as well as deepen the relationships we have with current donors and constituents. We strive to do this through traditional channels and in new, innovative ways.
The Vice President of Development, Individual Giving manages the individual giving, stewardship and major individual accounts of the development team. S/he works collaboratively and creatively to lead staff and volunteers in planning, coordinating and executing donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities. These activities include, but are not limited to: Staffing the development committee, managing a portfolio of major donors, overseeing the development and implementation of events and fundraising collateral that support the individual giving program, integrating the individual donor work in support of and in complement to the work of the workplace campaigns that yield over 50,000 donors per year, and supporting initiatives that target programs of highest priority for the United Way.
What you’ll do:
• Direct major giving strategies in tandem with the Board, CDO, CEO and COO
• Manage a team of individual giving and stewardship staff
• Develop cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies to support gift club activities including, but not limited to, Tocqueville Society, Emerging Leaders, Women United and Legacy Circle throughout the year
• Create new strategies for stewarding donor constituencies such as retirees, Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and others
• Partner with Marketing department on development of collateral materials
Direct and create major giving events plan, inclusive of stewardship and cultivation events
• Participate on cross functional teams and be a member of the Development management team.
Invest time and focus in developing, designing and implementing strategies for utilizing our CRM, Salesforce, for managing donor research, event attendance, communications, etc.
• Act as a department Salesforce champion, driving adoption and accountability across the Development department
• Consult with other United Way major markets on best practices in individual giving
Manage volunteer committees (board and non-board) as assigned by CDO
Who you are:
• 5-7 years of philanthropic experience within a non-profit organization or relationship management experience within the corporate sector including a demonstrated track record of success in the
areas of staff management, project management, budget analysis and goal setting, and revenue generation.
• Experience working with a portfolio of high capacity individuals and developing strategic solicitation strategies for donors of $10,000 or more annually.
• Experience in producing large and small events.
• Experience with design and execution of marketing materials.
• Experience managing, recruiting and training professional development staff.
• Advanced knowledge of fundraising strategies.
• Demonstrated success in collaborating both across organizations and within a department.
• Computer skills commensurate with responsibilities (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM systems).
Previous Salesforce experience in a non-profit environment is a plus.
• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience required.
• Excited about and engaged in inspiring others on the power of philanthropy.
• Excellent storytelling skills.
• Ability to rethink past fundraising practices and introduce new opportunities and strategies.

Salary: $110,000.00 – 130,000.00 Exempt
