Overview

 

Emerging Leaders is United Way Bay Area’s premiere young professional group. This network of Bay Area professionals is committed to uniting their resources, talents, and time to help others in the fight against poverty. The group hosts numerous networking, volunteer, and advocacy events throughout the year to support United Way’s mission while creating a community of philanthropic peers. Members each make an annual gift of $250+ to United Way’s poverty-fighting work.

Join Emerging Leaders

Social Impact Manager

 

Helps secure event sponsorships and grant opportunities if applicable, can also serve as social impact partner to our community impact team. Sits on the events team, but works closely with the Membership Lead and Events Lead.

 

Time Commitment:
● 1-2 hours / week

 

Skills Desired:
● Great communication and presentation skills
● Strong commitment to underlying mission of United Way
● Strong team player

Event Coordination Team Member (2-3)

 

Assist with event planning, attending one extra meeting, decorations, building out the program, guest speakers, etc.

 

Time Commitment:
● 1-2 hours / week

● Ability to work with external venues and partners to host events
● Sense of urgency to drive event planning forward
● Strong commitment to underlying mission of United Way

Policy Lead

 

Serves as a liaison to UWBA’s policy team. Leads policy based volunteer opportunities and the individuals pariticpating.

 

Time Commitment:
● 1-2 hours / week

● Previous non-profit policy experience desired
● Familiar with Bay Area local policy measures, bills, and elected officials
● Strong commitment to underlying mission of United Way
● Strong team player

Marketing Lead

Leads Emerging Leaders marketing team and works to create an enticing EL campaign (leadership search and 365 campaign). Works alongside the Social Media Manager.

In charge of the Emerging Leaders LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, assists our marketing department with social media posts. Adds new members to the LinkedIn page. Additional duties as assigned.

● 1-2 hours / week

● Previous social media experience highly desired
● Previous non-profit leadership experience highly desired
● Strong leadership ability
● Strong commitment to underlying mission of United Way
● Strong team player
● Sense of inclusion – highlights impact of various EL members on social media as necessary
