Bay Area Counts

When we respond, everyone benefits.

Together, we can make an impact.

Building a strong community that takes care of everyone who lives here depends on your generous support.

Together we made a difference.

Bay Area Counts 2020 was a $3.7M outreach initiative to ensure participation in the 2020 Census.

116

organizations received over $2M in grants to conduct census education and outreach in 7 counties.

68

languages were spoken by outreach partners to ensure equitable access to information and assistance.

145

Million outreach impressions were made through ads, events, canvassing, and phone banking.

75.7%

of housing units completed the census on their own, 6% higher than the state’s self-response rate.

A complete count is key to a better, stronger, and more equitable Bay Area.

Thanks to our efforts, Bay Area counties will receive an equitable share of federal funding for education, free and reduced school lunches, community health care, accessible transportation, and other programs we rely on every day. An accurate snapshot of the Bay Area will support stronger economic relief programs, public health research, and policies for post-pandemic recovery for our communities.
