UWBA’s Week of Caring Brings Volunteers Together to Build Brighter Futures for Bay Area Families

United Way Bay Area was thrilled to host its annual Week of Caring which brought out over 350 eager volunteers to help serve our Bay Area community. Volunteers from Wells Fargo, Northern Trust, Dodge & Cox and Merrill Lynch generously donated their time (over 700 hours!) and effort to help local youth, families, schools and organizations build a brighter future.

Volunteers participated in several fun hands-on projects including, helping local college students write resumes and prepare for job interviews, prepared hygiene kits, beautified a local youth center, and painted a mural at a local elementary school–just to name a few. The amount of time and service that was given to the Bay Area community from the collective work of these volunteers was over $17,000!

Huge thanks goes out to our partners SparkPoint College of San Mateo, SparkPoint Skyline College, EBALDC, Glide, GRIP, St. Anthony’s, Project Open Hand, 826 Valencia, St. Mary’s Center, Samaritan House of San Mateo County, StarVista, Mercy Brown Bag, LavaMae, St. Anthony’s, and Dolores Community Center!
