Creating A More Equitable Bay Area

On April 20, 2018, more than 275 community leaders from across the Bay Area came together in Petaluma for the Rise Together 2018 Opportunity Summit. The tone of the event was set early on by keynote speaker and San Francisco Foundation CEO Fred Blackwell who gave his “unfiltered” perspective on racial inequality in our region and the roles all of us have in addressing it. Candid discussions continued throughout the day, focusing on key challenges in the fight against Bay Area poverty—racial inequality, criminal justice reform, early childhood education, and affordable housing—and the innovative solutions emerging in our region to solve them.

United Way Bay Area is proud to serve as the “backbone organization” of Rise Together, a unique coalition of 200+ regional partners fighting Bay Area inequality through collective action. Rise Together is a cornerstone of UWBA’s efforts to strengthen our community by bringing together whole sectors and providing the funding and support to tackle our region’s most pressing challenges.
