Enter the Duck and Cover Contest, part of United Way Bay Area and Verizon’s United We Prepare Challenge, for a chance to win The Ultimate Disaster Preparedness Kit, valued at $1500, and help your neighbors get ready for the unexpected.

 

Earthquakes can strike at any moment and any place. Submit a photo or video of the most unique duck and cover drill you can conduct and show us how prepared you are!

 

Every entry raises awareness, sparks conversations, and might help someone know what to do when disaster strikes. Don’t wait—submissions close September 30th!

  • How to Enter

      1. Follow us on Instagram, or Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok.
      2. Post a video or photo of the most unique place (or situation) where you could do a duck and cover drill.
      3. Make your profile public so we can see your submission!
      4. Make sure to tag us (@UWBayArea) in your submission post
      5. Read the official rules

  • Contest Timeline

      • September 2 – October 22, 2025
      • Submissions: September 2 – September 30, 2025
      • Public Voting for the People’s Choice Award: October 3 – 17, 2025 – all entries will be posted on our website for voting.
      • Winner Announcement: October 22, 2025, via Instagram DM.
      • If the winner doesn’t claim their prize within 48 hours (by October 24), the runner-up will be selected and notified.
