DAY OF ACTION: United Way Bay Area Hosts Virtual Career Exploration for Oakland Youth

July 7, 2020

Figuring out a career path is hard for most people but systemic barriers make it even more difficult for youth of color to expand their networks and learn about different careers available to them. As a way of leveling the playing field and supporting youth of color in building brighter futures, United Way Bay Area partnered with the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) to host a Virtual Career Exploration event as part of the National United Way Day of Action.

The Virtual Career Exploration event was led by professionals representing a variety of industries, career levels, ages, educational backgrounds and demographics who discussed their own experiences of transitioning from school to employment, soft skills, access to job/internship training, career paths, and tips for resumes and interviews. Thank you to the volunteers who joined us from Ghirardelli, Oportun and Twilio. We could not have done this without you.
