WU’s Third Annual Galentine’s Event Supports Women Across the Bay

On February 9th, 2023, United Way Bay Area’s (UWBA) Women United hosted its third annual Galentine’s event.

The virtual celebration to highlight Galentine’s Day, the unofficial holiday to lift up the friendships between women and how they support each other was also a moment to raise money for SparkPoint. This year’s event also featured a variety of wines for guests to sample while they listened to the history of each from Riaza Wines. The virtual room was filled with a burst of energy as women of all ages and backgrounds gathered to support each other and the cause.

Attendees were able to hear from a UWBA Ambassador, Rose Kilgore, about her personal experience with SparkPoint and how the program and others help to support women specifically. Recently turned 21, Rose noted that thanks to services offered at SparkPoint, she was starting a new job.  By the end, the event raised a total of $7,000, just over a third of the $20,000 goal Women United has pledged to donate to Sparkpoint for the year.

The SparkPoint program provides financial coaching and support to individuals and families to help them achieve their long-term economic goals. It was inspiring to hear about the program’s impact on people’s lives and left attendees feeling even more committed to supporting the cause.

Galentine’s was a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of women. The event showcased the importance of coming together and what can happen when women are driven to support one another and make a difference in communities that desperately need it.
