United Way Tops Forbes List of America’s Top Charities
January 15, 2019
We are honored to again make the list and grateful to our many partners and supporters who help make our work possible. As described by Forbes, rankings on the 20th edition of the Forbes top-charities list are determined by the amount of private contributions that came in during the latest fiscal period. That excludes government grants, revenue from sale of products or the provision of services, and investment returns. The 100 largest U.S. charities which comprise the list, represent $49 billion in gifts and 12% of the $410 billion taken in by the more than one-million nonprofits in America.
We thank the many individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and government partners who join us in helping to improve lives for the common good. With continued support, we are excited to continue this work well into the future, building brighter futures for struggling individuals and families in the Bay Area.
