Though United Way Bay Area is early in our anti-racist journey, we are committed to embodying the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are taking a deliberate approach to ensure that our internal and external practices combat institutional racism, bias, and ethnic discrimination.
United Way Worldwide has recently announced a network-wide commitment to ending racism and ethnic discrimination, and as a local United Way, we stand with this commitment to fight for every person in every community, and to hold ourselves accountable in that process.
More than ever, strong collaboration between private, public, and nonprofit sectors is critical to drive real change and build resilient communities. We all need to work together to create a more equitable Bay Area.
As such, UWBA will:
UWBA is committed to building and maintaining a diverse staff and an inclusive workplace that values and practices equity, fostering a sense of belonging for all. We welcome applications from immigrants, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ applicants, and people with lived experience in poverty.
UWBA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, medical condition, religious affiliation, veteran status, national origin, citizenship status, mental or physical disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable state, federal or local law.
United Way Bay Area works across the unceded ancestral territories of the Ohlone, Miwok, Yukuts, and Patwin peoples who have lived in and moved through this region over hundreds of generations and who continue to live and work here today.
