Thank You for Supporting Uwba’s Back-to-School Drive!

September 13, 2021

By Anton Timms and Scott Marlowe

With the support of Enterprise Holdings, we were able to host a very successful Back-To-School drive to gather backpacks and school supplies to help prepare youth for the new school year and those who can’t afford these essential elements for education. Through the generosity of corporate sponsors, foundations, and individual donors, this year we were able to distribute more than 1500 backpacks with school supplies, the largest distribution in our history! As these students return to school, they will have some of the essential materials needed to provide them with a great start to their education.

“I just want to thank UWBA and all of the staff and volunteers on behalf of The Unity Council for your support and for considering us for this great gift to our communities.”
—Yolanda Lopez, The Unity Council

This year’s Back-To-School Drive supported youth involved with many organizations: 100 Black men, 826 Valencia, Berkeley Food Pantry, Bill Wilson Center, Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency, Catholic Charities San Francisco/Marin/San Mateo, CityServe of the Tri-Valley, Community Action Marin, Compass Family Services, Covenant House California, Davis Street Community Center, East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation, Martha’s KitchenSkyline College, SparkPoint Contra Costa, St. Vincent de Paul of San Mateo County, The Salvation Army of Silicon Valley, The Unity Council, WeHOPE, and Winter Nights Family Shelter.
