Deloitte partnered with United Way Bay Area and Visitacion Valley High School in San Francisco to engage over 100 8th graders in an interactive LEGO exhibit to introduce youth to design-thinking and how to use LEGOs to build ideas. By introducing students to the design thinking process, students gained an introductory understanding of how designers, engineers, and other professions use this process to employ empathy-based and creative products.
Deloitte volunteers walked students through the LEGO prompt, each step of the design thinking process, and design of the product. By the end of the session, students learned how to design a product from scratch. After the activity, one student commented that they “liked learning about designs” and “it was fun to build something”.
A huge shoutout to the Deloitte volunteers, UWBA staff, and San Francisco Unified School District staff who helped make this a great learning experience for all!
